James Magoon

Biography
        Absolutely nothing is known about this author, as far as Travelyn Publishing was able to ascertain.  He is listed as “Lieutenant James Magoon” on Beadle and Company’s 1860 biography The Life of Major-Gen. John C. Fremont, the Rocky Mountain Explorer, but the way those dime publishers of the time used pseudonyms and afixed military ranks willy-nilly to writers who never earned them, means that “Lieutenant James Magoon” might not be named James, might not be named Magoon, and might not have been a lieutenant.
        It’s a doggone shame when people who created something worthwhile, something that will last essentially forever to be enjoyed by other people, are themselves forgotten and fade into anonymity.  If anyone has more information about this author, please contact us and share that information so we can, in turn, share it with the world.
