Jim Gravelyn
Biography
Jim Gravelyn (February 8, 1954– ) is a writer, publisher, website owner, and political commentator who, being somewhat cowardly and needing to put food on the table, spent his working career as an accountant.  As a writer he has published books under the names Jim Gravelyn and J. P. Travis.  His websites are JPAttitude.com, JPGravelyn.com, BogusHateCrimes.com, and this one, TravelynPublishing.com.
He was born to Harry C. Gravelyn (World War II: My Experiences as Captain of Company D, 331st Infantry, 83rd Division) and Barbara Jean Hammond, a registered nurse, in Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan.  He remained a resident of Grand Rapids, attending Beckwith Elementary (K–6), Northeast Junior High (7–9), and Central High School (sporadically), until attending college at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, graduating with a BBA, major in accounting, in 1976.  He then attended graduate school at Grand Valley State University for a hot minute in the fall of 1976, where he discovered he had developed a deep and passionate hatred for institutions of higher learning, and where he also met his future wife, Nina Jean Handley.  They were married in 1977 and she gave him two daughters, Casey Lee Gravelyn (1981) and Samantha Mae Gravelyn (1984), before realizing her mistake and divorcing him like a hot potato.  His second wife, April Lynne Jenkins, gave him a son, Anthony Joshua Jenkins (2000), who is estranged... although how anyone can be estranged from such a delightful human being as Jim Gravelyn is a wonder to all who know him.  Or at least most who know him.  Certainly some who know him.
His final wife, Glenda Fay née Purcell, wiser and more discerning than the others, decided after due consideration not to divorce him—an oddity that leaves many scratching their heads—and furthermore to support him in his quixotic attempt to create his very own publishing empire.  That’s why she’s his favorite.
